Email Search Agent

Overview

The Cactusoft Email Search Agent is an optional extra for Parodia which lets your site visitors specify criteria for jobs they wish to be emailed with. The system combines some ASP scripts on the web site with an executable program which runs on the server or on any other machine connected to the internet.

Web Part

Candidates setup a "saved search" on your website. They can do this either from within their account, or by clicking the "email me jobs like this" link shown above search results (this walks them through the process of creating an account and setting up a saved search in a one step process)

Each saved search can specify:

• Region (from multi select drop down)
• Category/Industry (from multi select drop down)
• Job Status (permament, contract etc)
• Minimum Salary (from drop down - only if job status is specific in saved search)
• Keywords (free text)
• How regulary the search should be run (eg daily, weekly, monthly)

The Mail Agent Software

The mail agent itself is a windows executable file. If you have a dedicated windows web server to host the site this can be installed on the server itself. Most web hosts offering shared hosting will not permit this to be run on their servers in which case the mailagent can be run from any windows PC with a good connection to the internet. A LAN server is ideal because this will likely be on 24 hours a day which enables the mailagent to be setup as a windows schedule to run automatically every day.
